Tết Trung thu bắt nguồn từ văn hóa Trung Quốc. Có ba truyền thuyết chính được người ta biết đến nhiều nhất để nói về Trung thu đó là Hằng Nga và Hậu Nghệ, vua Đường Minh Hoàng lên cung trăng, và chú Cuội trong cổ tích Việt Nam. The Legend of Mid-Autumn Festival:
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Lantern Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar. It is a time for family gatherings, moon appreciation, and the sharing of mooncakes.
Legend has it that during the ancient Zhou Dynasty, there were ten suns in the sky, causing severe droughts and famine on Earth. Hou Yi, a skilled archer, was chosen by the gods to help restore balance. With his bow and arrows, he shot down nine of the suns, leaving only one to provide light and warmth.
Hou Yi’s bravery and heroism earned him great respect and admiration. However, his actions also drew the attention of the Jade Emperor, the ruler of heaven. The Jade Emperor became jealous of Hou Yi’s power and sent an elixir of immortality to Earth, intending to make Hou Yi immortal.
Hou Yi’s wife, Chang’e, came across the elixir and consumed it in order to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. As a result, she became immortal and floated up to the moon, where she resides to this day.
On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, people believe that Chang’e is at her fullest and brightest, and families gather to admire the full moon. They offer fruits, mooncakes, and burning incense as a tribute to Chang’e and pray for good fortune and unity.
Children play with colorful lanterns, parading them in the streets and parks. Traditional lanterns are often shaped like animals, plants, or characters from folklore. The lanterns add a festive and joyful atmosphere to the celebration.
Mooncakes, the iconic delicacy of the Mid-Autumn Festival, are round pastries filled with lotus seed paste, red bean paste, or other sweet fillings. They symbolize reunion and are shared among family and friends as a gesture of love and good wishes.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a time for celebration but also a time to appreciate the beauty of the moon, express gratitude for the harvest, and strengthen familial bonds. It is a cherished cultural tradition that has been passed down through generations and continues to be celebrated with joy and reverence.

In addition to the Tet holiday, the Mid-Autumn festival is also on the top of the most famous festivals. Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of August in the lunar calendar. There are not many countries in the world celebrating this day. Instead, Vietnam, China, Singapore, and a few other countries are famous for this festival. In Viet Nam, it is called Tet Trung thu which is considered as a holiday for the kids. In the month of this event, many lion dancers, the traditional symbol of this festival, practice dancing on the streets. Moon-cake stores appear everywhere and many shops start showing toys, lanterns, and colorful masks. Like Halloween, they also put masks on their faces so that no one can recognize them. The special thing is although this festival belongs to the children, the adults also enjoy this moment with them. Excitement peaks when drumbeats ring out and the lion appears, playing with the children. They will then form raucous processions and tour their neighborhoods singing songs. On the eve of Mid-autumn, I always participate in the parade in my neighborhood. It is extremely fun and memorable. It cannot be denied that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a special event in Vietnam.

Ngoài ngày Tết cổ truyền, Tết Trung thu là một trong những lễ hội phổ biến nhất. Đặc biệt, đây cũng là sự kiện truyền thống của trẻ em Việt Nam. Tết Trung thu thường được tổ chức vào ngày 15 tháng 8 Âm lịch.Trên thế giới không có quá nhiều quốc gia có lễ hội này. Ngược lại, nó lại khá phổ biến ở Việt Nam, Trung Quốc, Xing-ga-po và một vài quốc gia khác. Ở Việt Nam, nó được gọi là Tết Trung thu và mọi người thường nghĩ rằng đây là ngày lễ hội dành cho trẻ em. Trong tháng của sự kiện này, đội múa lân – biểu tượng truyền thống của ngày lễ này, thường luyện tập nhiều trên các đường phố. Giống như Halloween, vào ngày này, các bạn nhỏ sẽ đeo mặt nạ với đa dạng hình thù khác nhau để không ai nhận ra họ. Các cửa hàng bánh trung thu có mặt ở nhiều nơi và nhiều cửa hàng đã bắt đầu bày bán đồ chơi, đèn lồng và mặt nạ đủ màu sắc. Điều đặc biệt là mặc dù là lễ hội của trẻ em nhưng ở Việt Nam, người lớn vẫn tận hưởng không khí Trung thu cùng các bạn nhỏ. Sự phấn khích nhất là khi tiếng trống vang lên và chú kì lân xuất hiện, cùng các bạn nhỏ nô đùa cùng lũ trẻ. Sau đó, họ sẽ tổ chức những đám rước náo nhiệt và đi vòng quanh các khu phố của họ để hát những bài hát. Đêm Trung thu, tôi luôn luôn đùa vui cùng cuộc diễu hành ở xóm của tôi. Thực sự vô cùng vui và đáng nhớ. Không thể phủ nhận rằng, Tết Trung thu là một sự kiện đặc biệt ở Việt Nam.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is always one of the most significant traditional holidays in Vietnam. In my opinion, it is the most wonderful and exciting one and I cannot miss it every year. It is held not only in Vietnam but also in a few other parts of Asia such as China, Japan, and Korea. Once a year, the Mid-Autumn Festival is on the 15th of August of the lunar calendar and on that day, the moon is the fullest in the year. This festival has an original meaning that it represents a family reunion. People will come back home and eat moon cakes together. The special thing is that in Vietnam, the Mid-Autumn festival is often the occasion for the kids to celebrate and enjoy the best time of the year. On the night of Lunar August 15th, the streets are always full of people wandering and enjoying the festival atmosphere. Parents often buy star-shaped lanterns for their kids, and there are also some special events such as lantern parades and lion dancing for them on this day. I love the Mid-Autumn festival as this is a chance for me to remember my childhood and feel young again.

Tết Trung thu luôn là một trong những ngày lễ truyền thống đặc biệt ở Việt Nam. Với riêng tôi, nó là ngày lễ tuyệt vời và thú vị nhất mà tôi không thể bỏ lỡ mỗi năm. Tết Trung thu không chỉ được tổ chức ở Việt Nam mà còn ở một số khu vực khác của Châu Á, bao gồm Trung Quốc, Nhật Bản và Hàn Quốc. Mỗi năm một lần, ngày lễ rơi vào ngày 15 tháng 8 âm lịch, và vào ngày này, mặt trăng tròn nhất trong ánh đêm. Lễ hội này có ý nghĩa ban đầu là nó tượng trưng cho sự đoàn tụ của gia đình. Mọi người sẽ trở về nhà và ăn bánh trung thu cùng nhau. Điều đặc biệt là ở Việt Nam, Tết Trung thu chủ yếu là dịp để các bạn nhỏ vui chơi và hòa mình vào khoảng thời gian tuyệt vời nhất trong năm. Đêm 15 tháng 8 âm lịch, các tuyến phố luôn tấp nập người mua đi dạo quanh và tận hưởng không khí lễ hội. Cha mẹ thường mua đèn lồng hình ngôi sao cho con, và cũng có một số sự kiện khác đặc biệt như rước đèn hay múa lân cho trẻ em vào ngày này. Tôi yêu dịp lễ này bởi đây cũng là lúc nhắc tôi về tuổi thở của mình và tôi có thể thấy mình như trẻ lại.
